Kozhikode: The Kozhikode corporation has issued a notice to demolish the house of League MLA KM Shaji. According to the notice, it was found that KM Shaji had built the house in violation of the building code. The action was taken after it was found that the house was built in violation of the Municipality Act and other rules.



The 5,680 sq ft house was built at a cost of about Rs 3.5 crore. Earlier, it was proposed to build a house of 3000 square feet. Homes above 3,000 square feet are subject to luxury tax. But to avoid this, the documents show that it was less than 3,000 square feet and that the house was built to a larger size. Shaji's house is bigger than the one shown in the plan.



The MLA's(K. M. Shaji) house was inspected yesterday




The house of K. M. Shaji MLA was inspected yesterday. Shaji's house and land were measured by Kozhikode Municipal Corporation officials. The action was taken on the instructions of the Enforcement Directorate. The ED had earlier d)to collect Shaji's property information. The Plus Two bribery case is under investigation by the ED. The house was inspected in connection with this. The MLA was not at home when the inspection took place. No prior notice has been given in connection with the inspection.




Will K. M. Shaji be questioned?

Enforcement will question KM Shaji MLA in connection with the Plus Two bribery case. The interrogation is scheduled for November 10. The interrogation will be held at the Kozhikode ED North Zone office. ED notices have been issued to 30 people, including K. M. Shaji.






What is a Plus Two bribery case?

Shaji is now facing charges of taking money from management to allow him to pursue higher secondary education. It is alleged that Shaji bought Rs 25 lakh from the Azhikode school management in 2017.




Vigilance investigation

The government had earlier ordered a vigilance probe against K. M. Shaji in connection with the Plus Two bribery allegation. The vigilance probe is based on the complaint of Kannur block panchayat president K Padmanabhan .
